And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might. Deuteronomy 6:5 AMP
The primary Hebrew definition for love (as used in this verse) is “to have affection for”. Basically, the verb is equivalent to the English “to love” in the sense of having a strong emotional attachment to and desire either to possess or to be in the presence of the object. And you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. Mark 12:30a AMP Christian love has God for its primary object and expresses itself in implicit obedience to HIS commandments. It expresses the deep and constant love and interest of a perfect Being towards entirely unworthy objects producing and fostering a reverential love in them towards the Giver. That’s taken from the Greek definitions for love as used in Mark 12:30. So, maybe God wants us to love HIM with our entire life. Everything. All that we think, say or do expressed by our trusting obedience to HIS Word. HE wants us to be in awe of HIM. To desire HIS company. God wants to be our favorite. Love. Whether in the days of old or today it is the same. For there is nothing new under the Son ☺️ Just a little something to think on today.
